SEM Disability and Deaf Studies 

The purpose of this group is to create a space for musicologists and other scholars of music and culture who have an interest in the intersections between music and disability (broadly defined to encompass physical, mental, emotional, intellectual/developmental, invisible, and visible disabilities) and Deaf cultures, identities, and studies. The interest group is a space for members of the society who identify as either Deaf or disabled or who study these identities to gather at yearly conferences and to discuss their concerns regarding the society, the conference, and the field/discipline of musicology/ethnomusicology. This interest group is open to people of all abilities and identities.
